On Wednesday, it was reported that MMA fan favorite Nick Diaz had been jumped at the Hyde nightclub in the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
TMZ stated that Diaz was attacked by four men after accidentally stumbling into a customer in the bathroom.
"A rep for the club tells us the UFC fighter went to a bathroom outside the club around 2:30 AM, and accidentally stumbled into another customer ... who started talking smack.
We're told Nick apologized and said he didn't want any trouble, but 3 other men then joined the first guy and jumped Nick ... who tells us, 'I didn't start it. They didn't know who I was.'
He tried to defend himself, and got hit hard in the head -- and then the fight spilled out of the bathroom, and out onto the Bellagio's casino floor."
However, according to MMAMania.com, Jesse Holland states that a Hyde nightclub rep shut down the report and said there was no brawl involving Diaz at the hotel.
"There was no altercation inside Hyde Bellagio," a representative told MMAmania.com. "We enjoyed having Nick with us and he is always welcome at Hyde."
Diaz’ one-year suspension expired on August 1st, but the Californian still owes the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) $75,000 in fines. One of Diaz’ three drug tests from UFC 183 came back positive for marijuana metabolites and the Californian was denied a license to coach his younger brother, Nate Diaz, at UFC 202 due to the unpaid fine.
The former Strikeforce welterweight champion was also involved in a recent spat with a representative from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and is expected to return for a big money fight by the end of the year.
