The co-main event of UFC 202 was between two heavy hitters in Anthony "Rumble" Johnson and Glover Teixeira. And as expected by many, it was not a long night for the two fighters.
What was the high point of the fight?
Like the fight that preceded it, both Johnson and Teixeira immediately turned up the action as the fight commenced. Teixeira was engaging with his boxing, despite the danger of being hit with one of "Rumble’s" bombs.
Unfortunately for the Brazilian, Johnson did land one of his punches, a right uppercut flush on the jaw. Teixeira instantly went down to the mat, prompting referee Dan Miragliotta to step in and put the fight to a halt.
Where do these two go from here?
Currently ranked at number two, Teixeira is still within the top competition of the UFC’s 205-pound division. He is still definitely eligible to face a top-five contender to get himself back in the mix.
As stipulated, Johnson will be getting his title fight rematch against current champion Daniel Cormier. He has also shown improvements in his game, and it would be interesting to see how he fares against "DC" this time around.
Now, later, never
Fireworks can almost always be expected whenever "Rumble" Johnson steps inside the cage. This fight is no different, making it a must-see contest.
