Both Rick Story and Donald Cerrone were coming off consecutive victories entering the fight. But it was "Cowboy" who was able to continue with his winning ways via second round stoppage, in his third straight win at 170-pounds.
What was the high point of the fight?
Both fighters immediately engaged upon the opening seconds of the contest, the high point of the fight was when Cerrone finally found his range and rhythm, and began getting the better of Story in the stand-up exchanges.
He was able to carry the same momentum through the second round, when he landed the final combination to finish the fight.
Where do these two go from here?
Currently ranked at number nine, Story will likely be dropped from the top ten. He can face someone like Dong Hyun Kim, and a win could put him back in the conversation.
Cerrone, meanwhile, continues to rise up the welterweight rankings. He did call out current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, and while there are other names lined in the 155-pound division, a rematch between the two would definitely spark up some interest.
Now, later, never
Now. An action-packed stand-up battle such as this fight is always a must-watch fight. Cerrone has continued to show major improvement, making his move up to welterweight a more noteworthy one.
