Tweet of the Day: Woodley vs Wonderboy? Not so fast, says Tyron

Dana White recently said that Tyron Woodley would be defending his title against Stephen Thompson next. So Woodley took to social media to dispute that statement.

Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today, UFC president Dana White made a couple of bold statements. The first was that he "fully expected" Conor McGregor would be returning to 145 in his next bout. The other was that UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley would make his first title defense against top contender Stephen Thompson. Woodley has been campaigning for a more lucrative opponent, but White seemed to end that pursuit with his statement.

Or did he?

Woodley took to social media to dispute White's somewhat-concrete fight announcement:

It's easy to see both sides - White was simply making a statement about what would be next for Woodley; he's not actually making an "official" fight announcement. On the other side, it must be frustrating for a champion to hear who he's fighting next without even negotiating a deal regarding it yet.

In other words, it's just another day in the UFC.
