Fabricio Werdum will now face a familiar foe at UFC 203. Earlier today, we learned that Ben Rothwell was forced out of his bout with Werdum in Cleveland due to an injury. Now, MMA Junkie is reporting that Travis Browne has stepped up to take on Werdum for a second time.
The UFC has not made the bout official as of yet.
Browne (18-4-1, 9-4-1 UFC) is coming off a TKO loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 200 last month. He has alternated wins and losses in his last six bouts. One of those bouts was against Werdum, in the main event of UFC on Fox 11 in April 2014. Werdum cruised to a unanimous decision victory in that matchup.
Werdum (20-6-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) went on to win the UFC heavyweight title after the win over Browne, but the belt at UFC 198 when he was knocked out by Stipe Miocic. That loss broke a six-fight win streak.
UFC 203 goes down in the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on September 10th. Miocic will defend his title against Alistair Overeem in the headliner.
