I thought the battle between #4 seed Mark Coleman and #5 seed Tito Ortiz would be a close, back and forth, hard fought war. I was wrong. Coleman did what Coleman does - he took Ortiz down and smashed him into oblivion, easily taking out the Huntington Beach Bad Boy (final results are still being tabulated). In response to his loss, Ortiz released the following statement: "I'm not making any excuses, but I fought Coleman with only one lung because doctors removed my other lung 10 minutes before the fight. No, don't boo, I'm not making an excuse, I'm just saying that it wasn't a fair fight. No excuses."
We're picking up the pace a bit this week so that we can wrap up round 1 by the weekend. Today, our last regularly scheduled match-up - then check back Friday for the special end of round 1 wildcard. To round out the regular draw, it's our last 1 vs 8 match-up, with #1 seed Khabib Nurmagomedov going up against #8 Rashad Evans. It's been a wild tournament so far, but can Rashad pull off the ultimate upset and topple a #1 seed?
