Making it to a major MMA promotion is no easy task in modern day MMA. The bulk of big timers have paid their respective dues in a regional promotion before making the leap to a tent pole event. The pressure is on as those combatants near the cusp of 'the call' know they are only one exciting win away from the promise land.
Such a combatant looking for the call up to the main stage is the fan favorite CES bantamweight champion Andre The Asian Sensation Soukhamthath. Coming off of a spectacular flying knee knockout of Kody Nordby at CES 33, Soukhamthath is looking for a solid performance in an upcoming rematch against Kin Moy at CES 37 on August 12, 2016.
A strong showing just might produce the necessary push to perpetuate Andre Soukhamthath to the big dance. Bloody Elbow's Eddie Mercado caught up with the The Asian Sensation, sitting shotgun en route to watch Titan FC 40, to discuss his upcoming CES bout, his reasons for fighting, and to express his insatiable hunger for more.
Interview: CES Bantamweight Champion Andre "The Asian Sensation" Soukhamthath **AUDIO ONLY**
Andre Soukhamthath explains what he is fighting for:
"I like fighting and i'm looking to build a legacy. Not just for me but for my sons and my people. I come from a small town in Rhode Island; Providence, Rhode Island; Woonsocket, Rhode Island where not a lot of big things happen there. So I feel like it's my responsibility to show these kids that are from there and the people that are from there that anything is possible. If you want to be a star; you can be a star. Also, my background is Laotian. I'm Laos. There's not a lot of Laos people doing big things in professional sports right now so it would be nice to be the first person to actually really make it. So i'm looking to build a legacy."
