In the first bout at UFC 200, Jim Miller kept the drive alive with a big win over Takanori Gomi. The BJJ black belt took advantage of a mistake by the Japanese fighter, took him to the ground, and methodically advanced position until he was able to tee off on a flattened-out opponent.
Gomi was trapped, and the referee was forced to step in and call the fight off.
The finish came at the 2:18 mark of the first round.
Gomi and Miller both entered the fight tonight desperately looking for a win. Miller had lost two in a row and four of his last five, while Gomi also dropped his last two and three of four overall. Miller is still only 32, but has a lot of fights under his belt. Gomi, the former Pride lightweight champion, is now 37 and on the downside of his great career.
I'm not going to lie - this is one of the hardest posts I've ever had to write.
