Ex-roommate reacts to Jones' UFC 200 removal: 'Can't say I'm surprised'

Jon Jones' former roommate and current UFC welterweight Colby Covington says he isn't surprised by Jones' recent drug test failure, which forced him off UFC 200.

UFC welterweight Colby Covington can relate to interim UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in a way few can.

After high school and prior to his mixed martial arts career, Covington attended Iowa Central Community College, where he was a standout wrestler. At that time, he was the roommate of Jones. Covington and Jones no longer share a relationship, however, as the pair of future UFC fighters went their own ways after their respective wrestling careers.

Covington has criticized Jones' actions in the past, and recently reacted to the pound-for-pound king's removal from UFC 200 for a potential violation of USADA's anti-doping policy.

UFC 200, now headlined by former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar's highly anticipated return against Mark Hunt, takes place from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday, July 9.
