Crawford vs Postol fight odds and betting preview: Crawford favored over Postol at -650

Saturday night is a big night for boxing fans, as Terence Crawford takes on Viktor Postol live on PPV. The fight is a true unification fight at 140 pounds, and will determine  who stands at #1 in one of the sport's marquee divisions, as it pits the current consensus #1 and #2 fighters against each other.

Here are the current fight odds for Crawford vs. Postol as of Thursday afternoon, courtesy of Bovada:

These are very interesting odds. On the one hand, I'm not at all surprised to see Crawford as the favorite. He's been in the higher profile fights against an overall better level of opposition, he's widely considered a top 10 pound for pound fighter, he's already been king at Lightweight, and he's undefeated. He's the A side of this bill and, as such, the clear favorite.

But while I understand the logic behind those odds, I'm not sure I agree with them. Crawford may have the easier accolades to rattle off, but Postol has his own impressive resume, including a world title, an undefeated record, and one of the sport's best trainers in Freddie Roach in his corner. Postol will come in to the fight with a size advantage, plus a good gameplan for how to use that advantage. He'll also come in against a Crawford who is making his big PPV debut, and so may be more willing to force an exciting fight - and "exciting" fights are not always smart tactical fights.

Add all of that up, and at +425 you have a rock solid underdog pick in Postol here.

No big surprises there. Valdez and Gvozdyk are both in showcase fights, so are wide favorites (if anything, I would say Gvozdyk vs. Karpency is a bit tighter than I would have thought), and Benavidez at -400 feels right as well.
