With the glutton of UFC shows this month, I honestly forgot that there were new fighter rankings after the South Dakota show on July 13th, so for the sake of consistency, here are the newest set of updates, featuring big bumps for John Lineker and Louis Smolka, plus a debut in the top 15 for prospect Katlyn Chookagian.
The full UFC rankings breakdown can be found here.
Pound-for-Pound: Daniel Cormier is up to #5, Conor McGregor moves down to #6.
Women's Strawweight: No changes
Flyweight: Louis Smolka's destruction of Ben Nguyen sent him up 3 spots to #9. John Moraga's slide continues as he goes down another notch to #10. Matheus Nicolau, who beat Moraga over a week ago, climbed two spots to #11. Dustin Ortiz and Justin Scoggins both fell two places to #12-#13, respectively. Ben Nguyen is no longer ranked.
Women's Bantamweight: Katlyn Chookagian debuts at #15, while Ashlee Evans-Smith moves up two spots to #13, where Lauren Murphy was once ranked, but after her loss to Chookagian, is now off the top 15 list altogether.
Bantamweight: John Lineker's brutal KO of Michael McDonald vaulted him to #5, 3 spots higher than his previous ranking. McDonald only dipped two spots to #7, with Aljamain Sterling in the middle at #6. Cody Garbrandt dropped to #8, but if he beats Takeya Mizugaki next month, he'll be on his way up the rankings again. Frankie Saenz rose a spot to #12 at the expense of #13 Johnny Eduardo. Saenz fights #15 Eddie Wineland on Saturday at UFC on FOX 20.
