Bisping sets crosshairs on ‘little b*tch’ GSP: A man doesn’t leave MMA over PEDs

Michael Bisping had some less than kind words for the welterweight GOAT Georges St-Pierre and the former champ’s decision to step away from MMA, in part over widespread PED use.

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Silva vs Bisping Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

It’s no secret that Michael Bisping has long placed himself as the pillar of old-school-work-ethic in a sea of PED users. He’s fought a whole long list of fighters who, at one point or another have tested positive for or admitted use of something, while himself always remaining on the clean side of the testing specturem.

So, as a man all that is standing firm against all that is synthetic, hormonal, or injectable in MMA you might expect him to have a good deal of sympathy for former Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who cited widespread PED use as a core reason for his retirement from fighting. Or not.

On a recent episode of “The Countdown” over on Sirius XM Rush Radio, Bisping made his feelings about GSP and his retirement from MMA pretty clear (transcript via MMA Fighting):

"I have nothing against Georges St-Pierre,” Bisping stated, “apart from the fact that he retired from the sport and was like, ‘No, I can't do it because people are taking performance enhancing drugs.' Well guess what, they were and they're getting caught. But if you're a man, if you're a fighter, if you're not a little bitch, you'll still continue to take those chances and try to beat those people. You won't run away to the shadows and disappear because you think you can't compete. I'm not the coward. I'm not the coward that needs to takes steroids to compete with these guys. And I would have thought that Georges St-Pierre was man enough also to have the same attitude."

Of course, it may be that Bisping’s less than flattering view of the WW GOAT has more to do with GSP’s desire to fight Bisping for the middleweight title than it does GSPs stance on PEDs in MMA. St-Pierre has been edging closer and closer to a potential return to MMA and he’s made it clear that a fight for the Bisping’s title is at the top of his list.
