According to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Cristiano Ronaldo is quite the MMA fan.
The UFC lightweight contender appeared at a press conference in Dagestan, where he revealed that the soccer star reached out to him on Instagram and asked him when he was scheduled to return to the Octagon.
"He wrote to me saying 'ask Dana to give you Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 201," Khabib stated. "I told him that I wouldn't fight until the autumn, maybe at UFC 205 in November. He wrote 'I will try not miss your fight." I responded "Can you be in my corner?" He said that if he is not busy with a match, he will come for my fight."
Khabib, who is currently taking part in the Holy month of Ramadan - a 30-day period that requires muslims to fast from dawn until dusk - repeatedly stated that he is unwilling to compete during the religious month given his devout beliefs.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib's father and longtime coach in Dagestan, recently revealed that his son is campaigning for a match-up at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden. He is particularly interested in a title fight against the winner between Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez.
