The UFC has just announced two welterweight bouts for its event in Hamburg, Germany, on September 3. Most notably, Norwegian power puncher Emil Weber Meek will make his promotional debut against fellow UFC newcomer Jessin Ayari from Nurnberg, Germany. Meek raised more than a few eyebrows with his devastating 45-second knockout over former UFC contender and feared submission artist Rousimar Palahares at Venator FC 3 in Milan, Italy. The 27-year old Scandinavian has immediately signed a UFC contract after what has arguably been the biggest win of his career to date.
Meek is incredibly strong for the weight class and possesses some serious punching power. He has, however, been knocked out himself in the past, and often times showed signs of fatigue in the latter rounds. His opponent Jessin Ayari is a 24-year old talent from Germany, with well-rounded skills and a more technical approach to his striking. He also punched his ticket to the big leagues by beating a UFC veteran, when he outpointed Frenchman Mickael Lebout at GMC 8 in April.
Also on the card is a fight between the best 170-pounders from Germany and Denmark, as long-time UFC veteran Peter Sobotta tries to bounce back from a foot injury and a devastating loss to Kyle Noke at UFC 193, when he faces top-Danish fighter Nicolas Dalby. Dalby is a good kickboxer who has worked intensively on his ground skills, which he will most likely need against seasoned BJJ blackbelt Sobotta.
UFC Fight Night Hamburg takes place September 3rd in Hamburg's Barclaycard Arena and is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between former champions Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett.
