(UPDATE: It's now been confirmed that Kimbo Slice has died at the age of 42.)
Former UFC heavyweight Kimbo Slice was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Monday.
According to a report by TMZ, the 42-year old Slice (Kevin Ferguson in real life) was sent to an undisclosed hospital near his home in Coral Springs, Florida. Sources close to TMZ have claimed that the fighter’s situation "does not look good".
Slice last saw action in February, against fellow backyard brawler Dada 5000 (real name Dhafir Harris) at Bellator 149. Slice was originally awarded with a third round TKO win, but the results were soon overturned in March after he tested positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.
Last April, Slice provided an explanation for his failed drug test, noting that there may have been some contamination on his blood sample that led to his results to turn out positive. He also questioned the Athletic Commission for not allowing fighters to "use a little extra vitamins to perform." Kimbo is scheduled to face James Thompson in the Bellator London main event on July 16th.
Slice was part of The Ultimate Fighter 10 cast, where he ended up losing in his first fight against the series’ eventual winner, Roy Nelson. After defeating Houston Alexander and losing to Matt Mitrione, he was released from his UFC contract in 2010.
According to ESPN's Brett Okamoto, police officers have already gathered in Slice's house, but no investigation has been conducted yet.
Florida PD dispatched officers to Slice's house as courtesy, to clear potential gathering. No police call, no open investigation currently.
