One of the most memorable fighters in the history of MMA will take his place in the UFC Hall of Fame next month. Don Frye, who began as one of first well-rounded fighters and eventually became known for his brawling and patriotism, will be inducted during the UFC Fan Expo. The UFC announced the addition with a video package during the UFC 199 PPV.

Frye, 50, was an NCAA Division 1 wrestling champ and a judo black belt and made a huge impression with three straight KOs to win the UFC 8 tournament. He made the finals of the UFC 10 tourney as well, but was handed his first career loss by Mark Coleman. Frye continued on, winning the Ultimate Ultimate 1996 tourney.

A pro-wrestling career in Japan put his career on hold for four years, but he returned to fighting in Pride after 9/11 as a patriot, memorably wearing a "Terrorists Suck" t-shirt. There, he engaged in epic brawls with Ken Shamrock and Yoshihiro Takayama. After a long K-1 run, he finished his career back in the US.

Since then, he's kept his name in the limelight as an occasional (and amusing) announcer, and by doing the rounds and saying some outrageous things on the media circuit.

He finished his fifteen-year career with a 20-9-1 (1 NC) record.
