A week ago, former long-time welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre announced that he was ready to make a UFC comeback. The 35-year-old fighter last saw action in 2013, where he pulled off a controversial split-decision victory against fellow former champion Johny Hendricks.
Nothing has been set in stone as far as his return date goes, but St-Pierre is apparently exploring his options. During his recent appearance on the MMA Hour, GSP opened up the possibility of fighting at 155-pounds.
"If I wanted to, I could fight at lightweight as well," St-Pierre said (transcription via MMA Fighting). "Easy. Easy."
Middleweight champion Michael Bisping recently revealed that St-Pierre’s camp had reached out to him for a possible fight. But according to St-Pierre, competing at middleweight may not be the best decision given his size disadvantage, especially since he already feels undersized at at his home weight class at 170 pounds.
"I'm not a big welterweight. I walk around 187 (pounds)," St-Pierre said. "I'm 186, 187 when I wake up in the morning, and I could easily make it (with) a diet, because a lot of lightweights are bigger than me."
"Welterweight, I don't even talk about it because most of them are bigger than me, of course, and middleweight, they're much bigger than me. But it's not really about size. It's about skills."
