Dennis Bermudez will look to climb back up the featherweight ladder in August when he fights in Salt Lake City. Somewhat surprisingly, his opponent will be Rony Jason, who is unranked and returning from a PED suspension.
The bout was confirmed by Newsday.
Bermudez (15-5, 8-3 UFC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Tatsuya Kawajiri in February. Before that, he lost two bouts in a row to Jeremy Stephens and Ricardo Lamas.
Jason (14-5, 1 NC, 4-2, 1 NC UFC) has competed just twice in the last two years, losing a split decision to Robbie Peralta and defeating Damon Jackson. The win over Jackson was subsequently flipped to a No Contest after Jason failed a test for a banned diuretic. He was suspended for nine months and stripped of his performance bonus due to the failed test.
The UFC Fight Night show in Salt Lake City goes down on August 6th, with Alex Caceres meeting Yair Rodriguez in the headliner.
