With the surprising KO win Michael Bisping scored against Luke Rockhold, middleweight contender Ronaldo Jacare has no doubt he should get the next title shot. As Jacare spoke with Portal do Vale Tudo, he believes he is a big draw for the UFC and deserves to fight for the title.
“Fighters are now saying that the public doesn’t know who I am, that I don’t sell. I am Ronaldo Jacare. Several times Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion. I fought with a broken arm. Submission champion. MMA champion. Future UFC middleweight champion. Fans want to see someone who deserves to fight for the title. And that someone is me.”
On the same night Bisping won the title, Dan Henderson also scored a come-from-behind KO against Hector Lombard, which ignited a campaign for Hendo to rematch Bisping with the title on the line. To Jacare, however, that makes no sense.
“This Dan Henderson campaign is ridiculous. It’s actually funny, because I am next and there are others ahead of him. Chris Weidman also makes no sense, because he was scheduled to fight at UFC 199 and pulled out. It makes no sense to put him ahead of me, not to mention he’s injured and can’t train. Long story short. I fought and I won. He didn’t.”
Ronaldo Jacare is fresh off a first round TKO win over Vitor Belfort, at UFC 198, in May. The win came after his sole UFC loss, a split decision to Yoel Romero, at UFC 194, in December 2015.
