Lucas Martins and Rob Whiteford were the featured Fight Pass preliminary card fighters for UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Rothwell, last month. Martins won by split decision in a fight that was otherwise not exactly action-packed, but did snap his two-fight losing skid. For Whiteford, it marked the beginning of his own losing streak, and also dropped him back under .500 for his UFC career.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Whiteford's UFC run is over. The 34-year-old Scotsman announced his release from the promotion on Saturday.
Released @ufc this morning,truly grateful for the opportunities & memories,it was a blast ✌ ️

As for the 27-year-old Brazilian, despite winning against Whiteford and holding a 4-3 record in the UFC, he's also no longer with the promotion. It's not officially a "roster cut," but as MMA Fighting reported, the UFC opted not to give him a new contract.
"My manager (Diego) Lima was talking to the UFC, and said that the division is full," Martins said. "Even though I was coming off a win, my contract is over and they told me to get a couple more wins outside the UFC, two nice knockouts, and they would definitely sign me again. I wasn't expecting that because I was coming off a win, but it's fine."
"We got an offer from Bellator and it's great financially," Martins said. "I would be able to have my sponsors in the cage as well since there's no Reebok there, but I'm going to think about it."
So if "the division is full," then the UFC has just rid themselves of two featherweights in the span of a few days, although as Martins noted, it looks like he has a chance to make it back with a few wins outside of the promotion.
