Michael Bisping isn't a deep or spiritual person but 'The Count' believes it's his destiny to beat Luke Rockhold at UFC 199.
Those were Bisping's sentiments on Sirius XM's The Luke Thomas show on Wednesday, where the Ultimate Fighter Season 3 winner made some bold religious comments.
"To be honest, I'm not a deep, spiritual person," Bisping said. "Things have been happening in my life recently where I've started to think, 'Maybe things do happen for a reason.' I ways given this opportunity and I'm going to take it. I plan on going out there and winning, believe you me.
"Listen, I'll put it like this. If people can walk around - and I don't mean this in a disrespectful way to religious people - and you believe the son of God came down to earth 2,000 years ago, and he killed himself for our sins, and he can walk on water, and there's a God up there looking after ourselves, and if you get on your knees and pray to him that things will change, if you can believe that, then you can believe that I can knock the f--k out of Luke Rockhold two weeks from Saturday."
Bisping received the call to take on Rockhold for the middleweight belt when Chris Weidman was pulled from the bout due to injury. A win over Rockhold, who beat Bisping via guillotine choke in 2014, would conclude a fairytale ending for one of the UFC's most seasoned competitors. The Brit is high off a hometown win over Anderson Silva at UFC 84, which saw Bisping take home a hard-fought unanimous decision.
UFC 199, which will feature the middleweight championship tilt between Rockhold and Bisping in the main event, takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on June 4.
