UFC 198 results: Miocic KOs Werdum to become the new heavyweight champion

Stipe Miocic is the new UFC heavyweight champion after stunning the Brazilian crowd with a 1st round KO win vs. Fabricio Werdum in the UFC 198 main event.

The UFC 198 main event was a heavyweight title fight between Brazil's own Fabricio Werdum against Ohio challenger Stipe Miocic. More than 45,000 fans were on hand to witness this headliner in Curitiba, Brazil, and they were hoping that their MMA hero would make a successful defense of his title.

A couple of leg kicks straight away by the champion. Miocic just missed with a big right hand. Werdum had a leg kick checked. A good right hand by Werdum after a pair of jabs. Miocic with a low kick. Werdum's single leg was stuffed. Miocic absorbed a couple of outside leg kicks but pushed through and scored with a left. Right hand by Werdum around Stipe's guard. Both men got tagged in an exchange. Werdum came rushing forward sloppily and Miocic plastered Werdum with a massive right hand that put him down face first. Over and out and we have a new champion.

Stunned silence in Brazil. Stipe Miocic went into enemy territory and won the UFC heavyweight championship, becoming just the 2nd man to ever stop Fabricio Werdum.
