UFC Rotterdam free full fight video: Alistair Overeem retires Brock Lesnar

Before Alistair Overeem headlines the UFC's debut show in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, re-watch his 2011 UFC debut against Brock Lesnar.

We're nearing 5 full years since Alistair Overeem made his UFC debut. The former Strikeforce HW champion headlined UFC 141 against none other than Brock Lesnar, on a special Friday night PPV (because December 31st was a Saturday that year). It was Lesnar's first fight since losing his title to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121, and another bout with diverticulitis would cancel a UFC 131 showdown with Junior dos Santos.

Overeem vs. Lesnar wasn't close, and it was the body work of Alistair that eventually crumbled Brock for good. A body kick had him in agony, and after several blocked head shots, Overeem went right back to the body for the finish. Watch the full video at the top of the page.

Here's Brent Brookhouse's play-by-play:

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem - Round 1 - Leg kick from Lesnar early, and another and then a jab. Looping right just misses. Lesnar drops for a single and can't get it. Lesnar has cut Overeem above his eye. Big knee to the body by Overeem. Another hard knee. Those body shots are hurting him badly. Another knee and he's still hurt. Liver kick by Overeem and Lesnar takes a few steps back and takes a knee against the cage, Overeem unloading with punches and that'll do it. Alistair Overeem wins by TKO (liver kick and punches), 2:26 round 1.

And here's the Bloody Elbow community's reaction:

Overeem is obviously fighting Andrei Arlovski next week in the UFC Rotterdam main event, but he would fail a drug test and be pulled from his title fight with then-champion JDS at UFC 146. His return ended in a shocking KO loss to Antonio Silva at UFC 156 in February 2013. Overeem is currently on a 3 fight winning streak, including a win over JDS in his last bout. Lesnar retired from fighting and went back to the WWE, where he ended The Undertaker's 21 match winning streak at WrestleMania XXX.
