Saturday night sees UFC megastar Conor McGregor in a big fight against Nate Diaz live on PPV. UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz is live this Saturday, March 5 with a fight time of 10:00 p.m. ET for the main card. As always, Bloody Elbow will have live fight night coverage. To get ready for the show, let's take a look at the UFC 196 odds, courtesy of OddsShark.
In the main event, UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor steps up two weight classes to take on Nate Diaz at Welterweight. Diaz is of course a late replacement for injured Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. Despite the change in weight, McGregor remains the easy favorite:
Conor McGregor -380
Nate Diaz +290
As a reminder, this means McGregor is the favorite and a bet of $380 on him will earn you $100, while a bet of $100 on Diaz will earn you $290.
In the night's co-main event, Holly Holm makes the first defense of the UFC Women's Bantamweight title she won from Ronda Rousey last year. Holm is favored to retain over challenger Miesha Tate, with odds of -360 to +270.
Closest odds on the night come on the prelim card in the very exciting Jim Miller vs. Diego Sanchez fight. Miller is the very slight favorite there at -145 to Diego at +115. On the one hand, those seem like surprisingly close odds considering that it has been over 5 years since Sanchez won a fight without controversy. On the other hand, Diego is indeed very good at getting judges to lean his way, so a win on the books is certainly feasible here. Both Chas Skelly vs. Darren Elkins and Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko are also quite close.
Widest odds are the two main events, but there are three other fighters who are all -300 favorites: Corey Anderson over Tom Lawlor, Brandon Thatch over Siyar Bahadurzada, and Vitor Miranda over Marcelo Guimaraes. Full odds are below.
For those feeling extra adventurous, there are all sorts of weird prop bets for the main event. Will there be a clock stoppage due to eye poke? No clock stoppage is favored at -600. Will the two fighters touch gloves before the fight begins? Again, no is favored at -210 (and with Nate Diaz in there, that certainly seems like easy money to me). And the big money is to be made on the two men fighting to a draw. A draw result has odds of +22500, so if you're willing to put $100 down there and the fight goes to a draw, you'll make $22,500. Unlikely sure, but tempting?
So, Bloody Elbow readers - where will you be placing your money Saturday night?
