Johny Hendricks vs Stephen Thompson was originally supposed to be part of the UFC 196 pay-per-view event, up until injuries to the headliners forced the promotion to downgrade it to a Fight Night show. The welterweight match up has been promoted to the main event slot, and since they've already done filming, this card will still get the UFC Countdown treatment.
Among the interesting things shown was Thompson's background and daily life, with him teaching Karate to kids, along with his dad explaining his background competing in 'no rules' competitions decades ago. In one of the sequences, Hendricks also basically lays down his cards, and breaks down Thompson's style and distance.
