During the UFC 196 press conference, Conor McGregor took shots at Rafael dos Anjos, Frankie Edgar, and Jose Aldo, saying they all talk but none of them really wanted to fight him. They eventually booked Nate Diaz as a late replacement, and McGregor didn't hesitate to roast him as well.
"I honestly like Nick’s little bro," McGregor said. "He’s like a little cholo gangster from the hood, but at the same time, he coaches kids jiujitsu on a sunday morning, and goes on bike rides with the elderly!"
UFC 196: McGregor opens as heavy favorite over Dia
Betting handicappers have set Conor McGregor as a large favorite for his welterweight debut against Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
"He makes gun signs with the right hand, and animal balloons on the left hand. You’re a credit to the community."
Known for making predictions on each fight, McGregor said that while he applauds Diaz for taking the contest, he will be ending the fight early.
"I feel that me and Nate, we have a similar will," he said. "But the skill, doesn’t match the will, and that’s where the difference will be."
"I feel his repetitive foot patterns and his poor motions are too readable, too predictable," McGregor said. "He'll be too slow in there. His speed will stifle him. His soft body and his lack of preparation, he will not be able to handle the ferocity."
"End of the first, I feel like he will be put away."
"I respect Nate," McGregor said. "Don't get me wrong, I do respect Nate. There are a lot of pussies in this game and he is not one of them. Don't get me wrong. There's a respect there between us, but it's business in there. And business is business. He will be KO'd inside the first round."
"He comes forward, but his understanding of ring generalship and ring control is very amateurish, novice where I come from. He will understand the difference between amateur and world champion."
When Diaz was asked if he also had a prediction of his own, he simply shook his head.
As for his game plan, "I'm just going to kill or be killed," Diaz said. "That's what I'm coming with."
