Coker: Fedor Emelianenko could fight for Bellator in 2016

Bellator CEO Scott Coker expects Fedor Emelianenko to fight for Bellator in 2016.

Though Rizin founder Nobuyuki Sakakibara is certain he will have Fedor back in his ring in the near future, another MMA promoter is confident he could negotiate to have the Russian heavyweight compete in his cage.

Speaking to ESPN's MMA Live, Bellator CEO Scott Coker revealed that he is currently in negotiations to have Fedor fight for the American promotion in 2016.

"We are talking to [Fedor]," Coker told ESPN. "We have nothing to announce because negotiations are ongoing but we’d love to have him on our roster in 2016. We have a deep roster that would love to fight Fedor so at some point, if we get this deal done, maybe we’ll have Fedor fight for Bellator in 2016."

Bellator recently signed Russian heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov and plans to have Vitaly Minakov return to their cage in the near future. They also have a roster that includes fighters like Tito Ortiz and Kimbo Slice, all of whom could potentially be suitable opponents for the former PRIDE FC champion.
