Cody Garbrandt did not go too long without an opponent after John Lineker had to pull out of their bout due to illness. Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, Augusto Mendes, has agreed to take on "No Love" six days shy of their fight on February 21, as Combate reported.

The 32-year old and 5-0 Mendes was supposed to debut in the UFC at UFC Fight Night 81, on January 17, against Jimy Hettes, but a rib injury forced him out of the contest. Fully healed, he will now test himself on short notice against a fellow undefeated, although more experienced opponent.

Garbrandt comes into the bout with a 7-0 record and already two UFC wins his belt. The Team Alpha Male product debuted in 2015 with a third-round TKO win over Marcus Brimage and returned in July to beat Henry Briones by unanimous decision.

Cody Garbrandt and Augusto Mendes will now collide at UFC Fight Night 83, on February 21, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The card will be headlined by a welterweight clash between Donald Cerrone and Alex Oliveira.
