UFC 205 video: Joanna Jedrzejczyk shows off slick striking, ‘I’m too good for all of them’

UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk hit the mitts for her open workout and talked about what she’s expecting from her fight with Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk was on hand for the UFC 205 open workouts on Wednesday, November 9th, inside Madison Square Garden. The champion is going through the media motions in preparation for her 4th UFC title defense, this time against fellow Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Jedrzejczyk took the opportunity to show off her hand speed and slick combination striking during the workout, which was almost entirely focused on her standup game. Afterward, she spoke to UFC correspondent Megan Olivi about her opponent Karolina Kowalkiewicz:

“I just wanted to help her to get into the UFC,” Jedrzejczyk responed, when asked about reports that she’d lobbied for Kowalkiewicz’s signing to the promotion. “I feel like there should be more Polish female fighters in the UFC. I'm happy that Karolina got into the UFC, she's my next opponent, the challenger, but there's only one strawweight champion.”

“I'm different, she's different right now,” Jedrzejczyk continued, referencing her amateur level win over Kowalkiewicz from 2012. “It was four years ago; amateur competition. I became the champion, I've defended my title three times, this will be the fourth time. She's different... It's going to be a different fight. She'll probably put on a great performance for this fight, but I had a very good camp. I'm fast, I'm strong, and I'm too good for all of them.”

UFC 205 takes place this Saturday, November 12th in New York City, New York. The event will be held at Madison Square Garden and feature three title fights, headlined by a ‘superfight’ bout between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez. Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for more news and updates.
