Despite a violent 16-second KO loss last Friday night, Sergei Kharitonov plans to resume competition with an MMA match-up next month in Russia.

Kharitonov, who suffered a concussion following his knockout loss to Javy Ayala on the Bellator 163 main card, will return to the cage less than 30 days later on December 3rd against Francisco Sandro da Silva Bezerra. The news was reported by Russian state-run news agency, TASS.ru.

The Russian heavyweight fell to 23-6 overall in a professional career dating back 16 years. Now 36 years old, Kharitonov has no plans to slow down despite suffering his firs KO loss in seven years. He even brushed off his brutal loss at Bellator as a fluke.

“I missed that punch, that happens sometimes. It’s a heavyweight (division), every punch can be decisive. I will learn that lesson and will keep moving,” Kharitonov said following Friday’s fight, TASS reported.

“That was a lucky punch.”

Kharitonov will next compete on December 3rd in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
