UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Ferguson live results, discussion, play by play

Live, blow-by-blow updates for today's UFC event in Mexico City, which is headlined by a lightweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson.

Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring and play-by-play as UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Ferguson, or the TUF Latin America 3 Finale if you prefer, takes place in Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

The headliner will see former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos take on top contender Tony Ferguson.

Live results and play-by-play will commence with the Fight Pass broadcast at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT. They will move to FS1 at 8pm for four prelims fights, and stay there for the main card's six fights starting at 10pm ET. The full lineup and schedule follows. Rafael dos Anjos vs. Tony Ferguson

Round 1 - Ferguson opens with a right/left combo that gets blocked. Hard leg kick from Dos Anjos. And again. RDA with a nice left. He looks for a takedown but gets absolutely nothing. Another hard low leg kick. Ferguson with his own kick but RDA cracked him wit ha counter left. Another leg kick, but a counter right hook this time. Ferguson with an elbow. Uppercut from Ferg but he got clipped by yet another counter. Every time Ferguson kicks, he's immediately countered by the hands of RDA. Dos Anjos ends up on top in a scramble. RDA let him up and cracked him with a left hook as he stood. They trade jabs. Dos Anjos with another leg kick and Ferguson called him in. RDA with a spinning back elbow. Ferguson starting to land with his hands. 10-9 Dos Anjos.

Round 2 - Ferguson presses hard early with rights and a body kick. A straight right clubs RDA. He's really opening up. Dos Anjos cracked him back though. RDA complained of an eye poke, but Herb Dean didn't stop it. Then he did. That was really weird. Clearly an eye poke though. They're back to action fairly quickly. Hard body kick from El Cucuy. RDA fires back with his own. Ferguson beating up RDA's lead leg now. Good jabs from both men. Some blood from RDA's nose. Ferguson with an uppercut. High pace here. They trade lefts but RDA follows up with a hard left. Ferguson fires back with one of his own and that stunned Dos Anjos a bit. Lots of jabs from Ferguson. Hard body kick from RDA. Uppercut again. 10-9 Ferguson.

Round 3 - Ferguson with a straight left to start. He opened up with a huge combo just like the last round. Looked for a takedown but couldn't get it. Double jab from RDA. Hard body punch from Ferguson, and a spinning elbow. Side elbow from Ferguson. Head kick from Dos Anjos but it seemed to make Ferguson mad - he came forward with a bunch of shots after that. RDA with a hard left, and another. Hard leg kick now. RDA didn't have much going but has really come back. Ferguson rips to the body. RDA does it right back. Two low leg kicks from El Cucuy, inside and outside. Body kick from Dos Anjos. They trade body kicks. Another left from RDA. Ferguson with a big uppercut. Right, then a left from RDA. Very close, but I'll lean Ferguson 10-9.

Round 4 - Head kick for Ferguson. RDA rips him to the body. Jabs from both. Nice left hook from El Cucuy. Wow, beautiful knee from Ferguson. They trade leg kicks, then jabs. Rolling attack from Ferguson but he couldn't get a hold of RDA. Looked pretty though. Jabs. The pace may have slowed ever so slightly. Head kick from RDA. Uppercut/left hook combo from RDA. Ferguson with a litany of strikes against the cage. RDA went for a takedown briefly but bailed. Another takedown stuffed. Ferguson with a really hard inside leg kick. Body kick from RDA, Ferguson responds with a flurry. Ferguson spins, but eats two huge left hooks from RDA. Ferguson with a 1-2 combo right to the bloody nose. RDA has a takedown stuffed and he eats another big punch. 10-9 Ferguson.

Round 5 - Head kick from RDA. Ferguson more measured to start. RDA with a straight left. Inside leg kick from Ferguson. Hard left hook from Dos Anjos. Leg kick from RDA. Now to the body. They trade straight lefts. Winging left hook turns Ferguson's head. Ferguson with two straight lefts and a body shot. El Cucuy misses with an elbow. Body kick from RDA, Ferguson fires back with a step-in elbow but eats a left hook. RDA has a cut over his right eye now. Ferguson with a big right hook. RDA goes back to the legs. Hard leg kick from El Cucuy. They both trade hard shots in the pocket, but Ferguson landed three while RDA only landed one. Body kick from RDA. Ferguson kicks the lead leg. 10-9 and 49-46 Ferguson.

Tony Ferguson defeated Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47)

Marcin Held vs. Diego Sanchez

Round 1 - Body kick from Sanchez. Held with a right, and he's pressuring with combos. Held with a nice jab. Knee from Held breaks the clinch. Held scored with a knee against the cage.  Sanchez charges forward with a combo and comes up short. Another body kick from Diego. Held with a hard straight right and a left hook followup. Held with a cartwheel kick that connected! Sanchez looking for a takedown. Held looking for a front choke, and Sanchez jumped up and used the cage to pull away. That was crazy. Sanchez with a huge right  hook at the horn. 10-9 Held.

Round 2 - Scissor leg lock attempt from Held right away. That was crazy too. He had the leg for a bit Diego just kept banging. Held went for a heel hook right after. Diego's legs bend at absurd angles. He finally pulled it out and worked in Held's full guard. Sanchez is just grinding away, and Held is way too patient on the bottom. Grind on, Nightmare. Grind on. 10-9 Sanchez.

Round 3 - Sanchez to the body. Held in on a takedown. Nothing there, so he pops Diego with a knee on the way up. Held looking for a leg again, but Diego just stacked him up. Now he has an arm, but it's pretty useless. Sanchez gets back on top and lands an elbow. Toehold attempt for Held now. Sanchez back in guard with elbows. He passed to mount. Big punches. 10-9 and 29-28 Sanchez.

Diego Sanchez defeats Marcin Held by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)

Ricardo Lamas vs. Charles Oliveira

Round 1 - Lamas with a hard leg kick, and a straight right. Oliveira ties Lamas up but Lamas hits a really nice takedown. Big elbow to the grill. And another. Oliveira looks for a leg lock. He manages to get around to Lamas' back. Big takedown by Oliveira now. He has it in D'Arce position, and he's got it deep, but Lamas pops out. Do Brox works from the top with some body shots. He gets back mount and looks to soften up Lamas. Oliveira with some debatable elbows. He sinks a choke, and it's deep, but Lamas makes it to the horn. I think. They cut to commercial immediately. 10-9 Oliveira.

Round 2 - He survived. Oliveira dropped for a guillotine but Lamas is safe. He worked from side control. Oliveira rolled over but Lamas went for his own guilllotine. And Lamas got the tap! Sweet justice for Oliveira missing weight.

Martin Bravo vs. Claudio Puelles (TUF Finale)

Round 1 - Bravo with a quick leg kick. Puelles responds with his own. Hard elbow from Bravo. They trade knees on the inside. Bravo with a right hook. Puelles tried for a switch kick but nothing happened. A right from Bravo connects again. Three body/head combos from Bravo and Puelles has a bloody nose. Puelles scoops a leg but can't get a takedown. Great balance by Bravo. Now Puelles gets a single leg takedown, sinks a hook, and looks for the back. Bravo shakes him off though. Bravo with a Diaz-like hands in the air motion followed by a straight right. They trade shots in the pocket, with Bravo asking for more. Bravo with a huge combo. Puelles responds with a failed takedown attempt. 10-9 Bravo.

Round 2 - Puelles looks a little bit more crisp to start round two. Bravo touched him up against the fence though. Single leg from Puelles but Bravo's balance keeps him upright again. Bravo catches him with a huge body shot, and Puelles is down. Few more punches and we have our first finish on the main card.

Beneil Dariush vs. Rashid Magomedov

Round 1 - Both men swinging early. Dariush ties Magomedov up and lands some knees to the body against the cage. Magomedov reversed a takedown attempt and briefly worked form the top. They're back against the cage though. Magomedov lands a low knee. Dariush with a leg kick, and another. Magomedov with a hard straight right. Dariush with a superman punch. Magomedov is just waiting against the cage, and he's getting pieced up a bit. He fired back with a hard body kick though. He's got Dariush against the cage with some dirty boxing. Dariush looked for a high knee and Magomedov took him down. 10-9 Dariush.

Round 2 - Dariush immediately backs Magomedov against the cage. He landed a counter right, but Dariush clubbed him right back with a left hook. Winging left hook from Dariush, counter straight left from Magomedov. Both land heavy body kicks. They clinch up in the middle - Dariush throwing knees, Magomedov rabbit punching and scoring with short uppercuts. Long bout of clinch work against the cage. They finally separate with 45 seconds to go. They trade kicks. Mago with a nice knee to the body. But Dariush pushes him back against the fence. 10-9 Dariush.

Round 3 - Body kick from Magomedov, leg kick from Dariush. Again. Wow, and again. This is strange. Hard left hook from Mago. Dariush clinching a lot and landing knees to the body. Still in the clinch, Magomedov isn't showing enough urgency to escape. He went for a takedown but Dariush stayed upright. Herb Dean separated them with two minutes to go. Crowd is booing. Knee to the body from Dariush. Left hook from Magomedov. Body kick from Magomedov, and a right. They clinch yet again. Body kick and straight left from Mago. Left hook from Dariush. 10-9 Magomedov, but 29-28 Dariush.

Beneil Dariush defeated Rashid Magomedov by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Alexa Grasso vs. Heather Clark

Round 1 - Leg kick from Grasso. Clark with a combo in response. Right from Clark and she clinches up. Grasso spins away with a straight right. Clark very active with her striking, but Grasso is defending well. Right as I say that, a strong right gets through. Grasso just opened up, and wow! She's all over Clark! Huge shots to the head and body, mixed in knees and kicks to the body against the cage as well. Grasso has Clark fighting off the cage with a bloody nose. Another beautiful combo, but Clark is game. 10-9 Grasso.

Round 2 - They checked Clark's eyes between the round. She was able to continue. Grasso started out with less pressure. Clark clinched up. Grasso reversed and looked for a takedown. Clark briefly went for a guillotine but thought the better of it. Clark reversed and looked for a lateral drop takedown, and briefly got it. Grasso went for an armbar, scrambled up, and kicked her in the side. 10-9 Grasso.

Round 3 -  Body kick from Grasso and she caught Clark with a right hook as Clark charged into the clinch. She tried another lateral drop but Grasso was having none of it. Clark with a winging right hook. Now to the body. Grasso's output has dried up. Clark pressing but not landing. Leg kick and jab from Grasso. Clark with a right hook, but Grasso fired back with her own right and a leg kick. Another combo from the Mexican fighter. Straight right for Clark but she got tied up. Grasso scooped her up and slammed her to the ground. She didn't follow her down though. 10-9 and 30-27 Grasso.

Alexa Grasso defeated Heather Clark by unanumous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Erik Perez vs. Felipe Arantes

Round 1 - Hard leg kick from Arantes. Lots of bouncing, not a lot of striking. Now they open up a bit, with Perez landing a combo and Arantes scoring with a head kick. Leg kick from Perez. Two leg kicks from Arantes. Goyito with a body shot. Perez with a nice takedown, and he's working in half guard. Arantes rolls for a heel hook. Perez was in obvious pain but he escaped. Arantes worked from the top. He spun around for an armbar but gave up position. Perez with some elbows. 10-9 Arantes I guess.

Round 2 - Leg kick and then a head kick from Arantes. Perez went for a spinning backfist but Arantes clubbed his leg some more. Perez finally caught a kick and took Arantes down. Body shots. Perez to mount and he's dropping elbows. Arantes tried to tie him up so he went back to the body. Arantes scrambled away and took Goyito's back! Wow, that was slick. Body lock with back mount. Perez deftly spun into guard. Great scrambles here. Goyito rides out the round on top. 10-9 Perez.

Round 3 - Arantes stuffed an immediate takedown attempt from Perez. Nice jab from Arantes. Lead right hook from Perez. They both miss with spinning backfists, but Perez takes Arantes down on his. Perez jumped out to side and is completely controlling Arantes here. Arantes finally got up with two minutes to go. Big head kick from Arantes, but Perez took it. Leg kick. Perez clubbed him with a right hook. They both score, but Perez landed a harder counter right. Arantes dropped him, but it may have just been his knee giving out. Arantes immediately stepped over to mount and locked up an arm triangle, but the horn went. I have it 10-9 and 29-28 Arantes, but the first and third were very close.

Marco Beltran vs. Joe Soto

Round 1 - Leg kick from Beltran. Soto with a takedown. He looks for a leglock and they turn into a human pretzel. Soto leans back with a heel hook and Beltran is forced to tap!

Erick Montano vs. Max Griffin

Round 1 - Straight left from Griffin. Griffin caught Montano against the cage and he went down. Don't know if it was a slip or what, but Griffin was all over him with punches. He couldn't get out of the way, and the ref jumped in. Montano didn't complain. The replay showed that he took a shot behind the ear, so it wasn't a slip.

Henry Briones vs. Douglas Silva de Andrade

Round 1 - Lots of feinting to start. Inside leg kick from Silva. Quick uppercut for Briones. They finally open up a bit and Silva clips his opponent with a counter right. Still a lot of posturing though. Nice combo from Briones. Briones fires through the hands of Silva. Silva with two nice counter. Briones fires right back though. Silva to the body now. 10-9 Briones.

Round 2 - Silva with a nice lead right hook. Inside leg kick from Silva. Briones lands, but Silva comes back with a nice two-punch combo. Nice combo from Briones now. Silva rips to the body. Pumping the jab too. Silva caught Briones behind the ear and sent him staggering, but Briones fired back to the body. Silva slowing down a bit, could be due to the body work. Silva cracked Briones again! Went for a flying knee and gets dropped! Jumps right back up and cracks Briones to the body! That was a super fun few seconds. Silva with a takedown just before the horn. 10-9 Silva.

Round 3 - Both are coming up short on their punches so far. Finally a couple of jabs land for Silva. Briones ripped to the body twice and just missed with a flying knee. Hard combo from Silva. Hard head kick too. They start trading now, briefly. Briones has a cut on his nose. Briones clubs Silva with a right, but a counter elbow and a spinning backfist/elbow ends Briones! That's it right there!

Sam Alvey vs. Alex Nicholson

Round 1 - Timid leg kick from Nicholson. Head kick connects for The Spartan. Alvey with a counter right. Not a lot happening though. Straight left from Alvey, and a right. He's leading more than normal. Leg kick and a right for Alvey. Front kick to the belly from Nicholson. Low blow from Nicholson. Stann says "Not smilin' now!" Well played, Brian. Well-placed right from Alvey, but Nicholson responded with a spinning back fist and a body shot that stopped Alvey in his tracks. Leg kick from Alvey. 10-9 Nicholson.

Round 2 - A few body kicks from Nicholson. Jab too. A side kick from Nicholson catches Alvey low again, and he's in a lot of pain. It doesn't look like it was that hard, it might have just moved his cup. No point taken. They're back, and Nicholson scored with a leg kick. He landed a right but Nicholson landed a counter that wobbled him. He's all over him now. Alvey had a takedown stuffed. Alvey with a big combo that scores. Another straight left connects. They exchange kicks. Straight left scores again. Another huge one, but Nicholson takes it. Another. And another! A right scores now. Tough to score, but I'll go 10-9 Alvey.

Round 3 - Alvey looking for the left again, but Nicholson has adjusted well. Left hook got around Nicholson's guard that time. Nicholson is walking forward but isn't throwing nearly as much. His kick game has all but disappeared.  Just jabs. Couple of body shots from Alvey. The pace has slowed considerably. Uppercut from Alvey. Leg kick. 10-9 and 29-28 Alvey.

Marco Polo Reyes vs. Jason Novelli

Round 1 - Inside leg kick from Novelli. Not a lot happening over the first two minutes, just a lot of movement. 1-2 combo from Reyes. Novelli head kick blocked. Novelli shot in for a takedown and got it, but Reyes was up immediately. Big jab/right hook combo from Noelli. Reyes responds with a straight right. Reyes ate an eye poke, but doesn't need long to recover. Head kick from Novelli. Reyes presses forward. Two nice combos from him. 10-9 Novelli.

Round 2 - Reyes opens aggressively. Big leg kick from Novelli. Reyes is landing more early in this round, but Novelli is doing a decent job of evading. Reyes rips the body, and a hard leg kick follows. Novelli looked for a takedown but Reyes reversed it to work from the top. Novelli with the rubber guard and some kicks to the hip from the bottom. Unique. Now using a body triangle, briefly. Reyes moves him against the cage and lands a few punches. 10-9 Reyes.

Round 3 - Reyes throwing power shots now. Novelli fires to the body, so Reyes does the same. Right hook from Novelli. Reyes with  a counter right, and a followup right knocks Novelli's mouthpiece out. Apparently it didn't taste so good when he put it back in. Reyes throwing kicks after landing the right now. Novelli is circling a lot. This isn't going to look good to the judges. He shot in on a takedown and got it. That's a big help. He moved into mount but got bucked off. Reyes gives up his back. Back to mount. Novelli dropping elbows. He's looking for the choke. More big punches. I give that round to Novelli, and have him winning the fight 29-28. The first was very close though, and the third could be scored either way.

Chris Avila vs. Enrique Barzola

Round 1 - Avila takes the center. Barzol with some low kicks, and a combo. Nice single leg takedown from Barzola, but Avila is only down for a couple of seconds. Hard leg kick from Barzola. Avila with a right hook. Barzola in on a single against the cage, and throws his opponent to the mat. Big upkick from Avila! Barzola ends up on Avila's back briefly. They trade strikes in the center for a little bit before Barzola brings the pressure against the cage again. Couldn't get a takedown this time though. More leg kicks from Barzola. 1-2 from Avila. 10-9 Barzola.

Round 2 - Body kick from Barzola. Barzola in on a single again. Switches to a body lock and gets the takedown. Avila back to one knee and eventually up. They trade in the clinch. Avila with a right hook but he gets taken down again. He worked from Avila's back, landing some rights to the head. Nice knee from Barzola as Avila stands. He rips to the body. Avila looking to fire back but can't connect with much. 10-9 Barzola again.

Round 3 - Nice knee to the body and a combo from Barzola. Avila swings and misses, eating a countershot in the process. Big takedown from Barzola again. Back up. Avila is backing off. More kicks and pressure from the Peruvian. Hard left from Barzola, and a leg kick that knocks Avila off balance. Bodylock takedown again. He can't sink hooks from Avila's back, so he's fine with just unloading with punches. Avila's up late, but his leg seems to be bothering him from all the leg kicks. 10-9 and 30-27 Barzola.
