Tonight’s boxing clash between Vasyl Lomachenko and Nicholas Walters is a close, hard fought battle between two of the best 130 pound fighters today. However that closeness is not reflected in the fight odds, which quite heavily favor Lomachenko. Here are the latest odds, courtesy of OddsShark:
Vasyl Lomachenko -650
Nicholas Walters +475
It makes sense to see Lomachenko favored here. Despite his very small 6-1 record, he’s a rare talent with high level technical skills and nasty aggression. He’s also already a two division world champion, and here, he faces a fighter coming in off a year long layoff.
That said, Walters is not a pushover by any means. He’ll come into the fight tonight with a big reach advantage, more power than Lomachenko has yet seen across the ring from him in his pro career, and a great ability to work his opponents down over the course of the fight. He’s very much in this, and an excellent underdog pick.
Interestingly, these odds have tightened up this week, as just a few days ago, Lomachenko was at a much wider -900, which shows that many are seeing the value in a Walters underdog gamble.
Verdict: Worth a bet on Walters
