Rafael Natal and Tim Boetsch were supposed to fight on the Fight Pass preliminary card portion of UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor at New York’s Madison Square Garden, but they were bumped up to a Fox Sports 1 slot following the postponing of Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy. For Boetsch, he was looking for a two-fight winning streak, while Natal was aiming to get back on the winning track after losing to Robert Whittaker.
Boetsch cut Natal early with a right hand that hit the Brazilian on the left eyebrow. “The Barbarian” looked sharp and on point with his striking, whereas Natal was wild with his overhand right. With Natal’s back against the fence, Boetsch drilled Natal with another right hand, this time on the chin, and Natal crashed to the mat. A few more rights on the ground sealed the deal and a 1st round TKO win for Tim Boetsch.
Official result: Tim Boetsch def. Rafael Natal via TKO (punches) at 3:22 of round 1
