The card features three title fights, with the headliner taking place at lightweight. Featherweight champion Conor McGregor will attempt to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time when he takes on lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
The other two title fights take place at welterweight and women's strawweight. Tyron Woodley will defend against Stephen Thompson, while Joanna Jedrzejczyk fights Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
This post will cover the headlining fight between Alvarez and McGregor. Will all the buildup to what could be a historic moment, it seems fitting to have a standalone play-by-play post for the bout.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Conor McGregor [LW Title]
Round 1 - Eddie with a low kick. And another, this time on the inside. Another. Front kick to the body by Conor. Eddie charged forward and got dropped with a counter! WOW! Alvarez popped up right away though. Eddie shoots and gets nowhere. Another front kick from McGregor. Eddie came forward with the right and the counter dropped him to one knee again! Amazing. And he dropped him again with the straight left! Conor stacks him up on the cage in north south. Alvarez squirms away after eating a few punches. Takedown stuffed, and Conor lands with an elbow. Another straight left catches Eddie on the nose. Alvarez with a left. Conor pistons him with the straight left again. Alvarez to the body. They trade front kicks to the body. 10-8 McGregor.
Round 2 - Body kicks from both men. Straight left cracked him again! Eddie has no answer for it at all. Takedown attempt from Alvarez stuffed. Conor with his hands behind his back now. Side kicks from McGregor. Eddie finally connects with his right. Eddie missing badly. Conor catches him with a counter and puts him on one knee briefly. Alvarez clinching up now. Might as well try something else. Knee to the body from Conor and they separate. The left finds a home again. Four punch combo and Alvarez is down. He's done. The referee waves it off. Wow. Conor McGregor absolutely dominated the lightweight champion. He now holds two belts.
