UFC 205 betting odds: 2 champions are underdogs; Conor McGregor still favorite

The final betting odds are in as 2 UFC champions are underdogs headed into UFC 205 with Conor McGregor remaining the favorite over lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

Aldo vs McGregor ep 7

Finally, the day has come for one of the most historic moments in MMA history, as 3 titles are up for grabs at UFC 205, the first ever New York City event at the storied Madison Square Garden. Conor McGregor (-145) remains the favorite over lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez (+115). Challenger Stephen Thompson (-210) is favored over the UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (+170). The only defending champion that is not an underdog is women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (-400) as she takes on the challenging Karolina Kowlakiewicz (+330).

Suggestions:

Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez: Lightweight Title

Unless you are Mystic Mac himself, predicting a Conor McGregor (-145) bout can be a bit of a challenge, which can be a major turnoff for those looking to cash in on the Irishman’s matches. The unpredictability alone warrants a call for NO ACTION, but if you must...

With a moneyline of around -145, there is some value with a straight up bet on McGregor, but on the same token, Eddie Alvarez’s line of +115 carries some value in it’s own right.

If you are unsure of which champion will walk away with the UFC lightweight strap, then here are a few options that are worth a look:

Either fighter by TKO/KO @ -189

Wins Fight of the Night @ +275

Fight ends in Rd. 1 @ +162

Under 1.5 Rounds @ +145

Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson: Welterweight Title

Although Tyron Woodley (+170) won his UFC welterweight title by knocking out out Robbie Lawler in the first round, he still opened up as a descent sized underdog against the challenging Stephen Thompson (-210). Stephen Thompson stormed his way to the top of the welterweight division by besting some top flight competition, but the current champion Tyron Woodley @ +170 seems to be the value pick in this one.

Jeremy Stephens vs. Frankie Edgar: Featherweight

Frankie Edgar (-335) is a pretty large favorite, and rightfully so, headed into his bout with Jeremy Stephens (+275). Edgar has the footwear, wrestling, and experience to give him multiple advantages in various areas. On the flip-side, Edgar has been known to ‘eat a few’ which is the worst thing to do when facing someone that hits as hard as Jeremy Stephens. Stephens by KO/TKO +513 is a mighty tempting chance bet with Stephens (scorecards = no action) at +135 being a less risky venture.
