UFC 205 betting odds: Conor McGregor favored over Eddie Alvarez

The odds are in for UFC 205, with Conor McGregor favored to become a two division champion by defeating Eddie Alvarez.

MMA: UFC 202-Diaz vs McGregor 2 Joshua Dahl-USA TODAY Sports

The historic UFC 205 is coming up soon, and with three world title fights and a series of high-profile fighters in action, there is plenty of betting action possible Saturday night.

In the main event, UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor is the slight favorite (-165) to take the Lightweight title from champion Eddie Alvarez (+140), becoming the company’s first ever two division champion. In the women’s Strawweight title fight, champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (-450) is heavily favored to retain against Karolina Kowlakiewicz (+325) in the widest odds on the night. Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (+158) is not as lucky - odds have him losing the title to challenger Stephen Thompson (-183).

As of Wednesday afternoon, here are the current odds, courtesy of OddsShark.com:

SUGGESTIONS:

Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez - McGregor’s first trip up in weight resulted in a loss to Nate Diaz, but he looked very good in the rematch. Meanwhile, Alvarez has just barely made his way to a 3-1 UFC record, with contentious decision wins in two separate fights, so it’s understandable that he’s the underdog. Still, Alvarez has the ability to make this a drawn out grind, and he also has the ability to throw bombs and put McGregor away, and now he’s talking about submitting the Featherweight champion too. That’s too many variables, and too many possible outcomes. No Action

Rest of Card - Woodley is not a massive underdog, but there’s still a bit of money to be made there, particularly if you think that fight will end inside the distance, which seems entirely probable. Yoel Romero is now +158 against Chris Weidman - I like those odds for the very tough Romero.
