The main event of WSOF 33 has been cancelled. It was expected that WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje was going to defend his title against Ozzy Dugulubgov in the headliner of tonight's show in Kansas City, but the challenger has been forced out of the bout due to illness. He broke the news on his Facebook page:
MMA Fighting has confirmed with WSOF president Ray Sefo that the fight has been cancelled. It appears that he is suffering from headaches and low blood pressure. There was no word as to what caused the issues, but he was heading to the hospital for evaluation. According to the article, Gaethje will receive his fight purse.
The new main event for the Kansas City show will see David Branch defending his WSOF light heavyweight title against Vinny Magalhaes. That bout had been slated as the co-main event until this incident.
Tonight's show airs on NBC Sports Network, with the main event kicking off at 11pm ET/8pm PT.
