On Monday, UFC legend Georges St-Pierre went on The MMA Hour to announce that he's a free agent, with his lawyer terminating his UFC contract. The UFC hasn't commented on GSP's contractual status, so there is a difference between "GSP is a free agent" and "GSP says he's a free agent" at play here. Nevertheless, it's still a massive story, and one of the big questions coming out of this announcement is who GSP could face outside of the UFC. It didn't take long for Ben Askren to raise his hand and call out the former UFC welterweight champion.
Hey @GeorgesStPierre not a lot of people to fight outside the UFC. I'll be your huckleberry!!!

Askren (15-0, 1 NC) is the reigning ONE Championship welterweight king. He's coming off an April unanimous decision win over Nikolay Aleksakhin, who failed to make weight, thus making it a non-title affair. Askren also reigned supreme as Bellator's welterweight champion, most notably shutting down the likes of Douglas Lima and Andrey Koreshkov during his time with the promotion. The 31-year-old has fought just four times under the ONE banner, but a fight with St-Pierre would obviously trump anything else he's managed throughout his career, especially considering odds of him ever signing with the UFC are slim and none.
