Ronda Rousey gets Shakespearean: 'I was adored once too'

New, comments

"O time, thou must untangle this, not I. It is too hard a knot for me t'untie," might be a better starting place if Ronda Rousey is going to start dipping into Twelfth Night for inspirational quotes.

The former UFC women's bantamweight champion seems to be waxing poetic as she continues to reflect on her first loss in pro MMA. Rousey fought challenger (and now champion) Holly Holm back at UFC 193 and got put through a kickboxing clinic by the former pro-boxer turned MMA fighter. Since then, Ronda has surfaced to attend the Marine Corps Ball as promised, and has otherwise stayed fairly radio silent.

It seems that that's because she's still recovering a bit from a loss that those around her suggest she took extremely hard. Her sister even went so far as to say that a part of Rousey "died" that night and had her "soul crushed." Rousey herself seems to be taking a page out of the Shakespeare play Twelfth Night, or more accurately, a quote:

Hopefully this doesn't mean that Ronda Rousey has a twin brother that's been cross dressing as a woman to replace her at different public functions, but that's probably a little too much close reading for an Instagram post.

In the meantime it's unclear what's next for Rousey. She's got some film projects that may be in production soon and there's talk of her returning this summer to fight Holly Holm. But, at the moment, it seems like she's just taking some time out of the spotlight.
