In the co-main event of UFC 195, heavyweight contenders Stipe Miocic and Andrei Arlovski collided. Miocic finished the former champion in under a minute, leaving no doubt that he deserves a shot at heavyweight gold.
What was the high point of the fight?
The high point of this fight was the only point -- Miocic's very impressive knockout finish. He instantly put pressure on Arlovski, and landed a right hand followed by a combination that dropped him. Miocic followed that up with some nasty ground-and-pound until the referee was forced to wave it off.
Where do these two go from here?
Miocic appears to be next in line for a title shot against the winner of UFC 196's Fabricio Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez II. That could definitely be the case, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Miocic in another high-profile matchup before fighting for the belt (despite UFC President Dana White saying Miocic is next in line, as we know how that goes more often than not...).
Arlovski will need to go back to the drawing board after this devastating loss. He has looked good since returning to the Octagon but probably will never be able to compete with the heavyweight top contenders. Training at JacksonWink MMA he's still improving, but his career resurgence has died, for now.
