Jon Jones 'would totally' fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 196, but only for the HW title

Jon Jones is here to save UFC 196! Stipe Miocic needs an opponent, Jones is willing to step up, but there's just one thing that needs to happen before Jones can accept the bout.

In case you missed the news, Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum both pulled out of UFC 196 within the past 48 hours. This leaves Stipe Miocic, Velasquez's replacement against Werdum, without an opponent and an uncertain future on the February 6th PPV. UFC 196 is in tatters, it needs a hero, fans are holding out for a hero until the end of the night! Who will step up and be the hero?!

Well look no further, as we've (sorta) found the hero! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Jon Jones! Yes, it's the former UFC light heavyweight champion himself. You may remember that time when Jones turned out a short-notice fight against Chael Sonnen at UFC 151, citing inadequate time to prepare for a different style of opponent. UFC 151 was cancelled, Dana White was furious, and Jon Jones was irreversibly vilified.

A fan asked Dana White to make Jones vs. Stipe Miocic for the interim HW title, to which Jones replied that he absolutely would fight Miocic, but it's gotta be for the actual belt.

This means that Werdum would have to be stripped for not accepting the Miocic fight, which is highly unlikely, but it's the thought that counts! Oh well, the search for UFC 196's new main event continues...
