The Ultimate Fighter: McGregor vs. Faber episode 1 discussion

New, 67 comments

Tune in tonight for the premiere of The Ultimate Fighter season 22, as coaches Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber look to lead their men to victory.

In the immortal words of Michael Buffer: "It's.... TIME!" Time for what you ask? Time to bear witness. To the fitness. Of the modern warrior.

That's right, it's TUF time.

Tonight, the 22nd season of The Ultimate Fighter debuts. This time, it's The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber, as UFC Interim Featherweight champion Conor McGregor leads a team of fighters from Europe against the USA based team led by Urijah Faber. The two hour season premiere airs tonight on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00 p.m. ET.

So, what to expect tonight? Well, fights. Lots of fights. This season starts with an elimination round with 16 Europeans and 16 Americans being whittled down to 8 and 8. For tonight only, it will be Europe vs. Europe and US vs. US as fighters vie to get in to the house. From there, they will square off down their patriotic lines. Here are the 32 Lightweight fighters competing for 16 spots:

Team McGregor (Europe): Artem Lobov, Abner Lloveras, David Teymur, Djamil Chan, Frantz Frank Slioa, Marcin Wrzosek, Martin Delaney, Martin Svensson, Mehdi Baghdad, Mohamed Grabinski, Paulo Boer, Sascha Sharma, Saul Rogers, Sean Carter, Thibault Gouti, Vladimir Sikic

Team Faber (United States): Andreas Quintana, Austin Springer, Billy Quarantillo, Brandon Ricetti, Brennan Sevin, Chris Gruetzemacher, Jason Soares, Johnny Nunez, James Jenkins, Jason Gonzalez, Julian Erosa, Mike Flach, Ryan Hall, Thanh Le, Tim Welch, Tom Gallicchio

Also, expect a lot of Conor McGregor trash talking, because it's Conor McGregor and that's what he does. Probable butts of the joke: Faber's teammate and McGregor victim Chad Mendes, McGregor #1 rival Jose Aldo, and Faber's chin.

If we're lucky, we'll also get some Dana White motivational speech making. Oh, and some fancy suits from the (sort of) champ. That's a given.

See how it all shakes out tonight on the TUF 22 season premiere.
