UFC 191 medicals: Five fighters get 180-day suspensions

It appears that the heavyweights in the co-main event of UFC 191 were hitting each other pretty hard. Both Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir were among five fighters that were issued 180-day medical suspensions in the wake of the event, and the veterans both appeared to have injured their right hands.

The other three fighters to receive long suspensions were Alex Chambers (knee), Joe Riggs (orbital), and Joaquim Silva (orbital).

It should be noted that fighters can be cleared from long-term medical suspensions if they can get clearance from a doctor. Here's the full list, which includes UFC flyweight title challenger John Dodson.

John Dodson: Suspended until 10/06/15 and no contact until 09/27/15 (small laceration on nose).

Andrei Arlovski: Must have right hand x-rayed within 3 days, if not done within 3 days or if positive must have orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until 03/05/16; minimum suspension no contest until 10/06/15 no contact until 09/27/15 (left eyelid laceration).

Frank Mir: Must have right hand cleared by an orthopedic doctor or no contest until 03/05/16; minimum suspension no contest until 10/06/15, no contact until 09/27/15 (eyebrow laceration).

Jimi Manuwa: Suspended until 10/21/15 and no contact until 10/06/15.

Jan Blachowicz: Suspended until 10/21/15 and no contact until 10/06/15.

Corey Anderson: Must have dental clearance or no contest until 03/05/16 (loose teeth).

Alex Chambers: Must have a MRI of her left knee to rule out ACL injury or no contest until 03/05/16.

Francisco Rivera: Suspended until 10/21/15 and no contact until 10/06/15.

Jessica Andrade: Suspended until 10/06/15 and no contact until 09/27/15 (tough fight).

Clay Collard: Suspended until 10/06/15 and no contact until 09/27/15 (tough fight).

Joe Riggs: Must have CT of face/orbits and must be cleared by ENT or Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon; minimum suspension no contest until 10/21/15, no contact until 10/06/15.

Ronald Stallings: Suspended until 10/06/15 and no contact until 09/27/15 (Facial lacerations).

Joaquim Silva: Must have an orbital CT scan and clearance from an ENT Dr or no contest until 03/05/16; minimum suspension no contest until 10/21/15, no contact until 10/06/15.

Nazareno Malegarie: Suspended until 10/06/15 and no contact until 09/27/15 (Facial lacerations).
