Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather takes to the ring for what he is claiming is his final fight as a pro boxer. The 48-0 Money Mayweather takes on Andre Berto (30-3) on Showtime PPV. As you would expect when the man who just definitively beat Manny Pacquiao takes on the man who just got by Josesito Lopez, this one is a pretty wide margin for bets. Here are the odds on Bovada as of Tuesday, 4 days before fight time:
Floyd Mayweather -3500
Andre Berto +1200
So if you want to win money on Mayweather, you need to bet $3,500 to bring yourself a cool $100. Meanwhile, a $100 bet on Berto will bring you $1,200. For a point of comparison, Mayweather closed around -225 for the Pacquiao fight, -300 against Canelo Alvarez, -1000 for the first Marcos Maidana fight, and -800 in the Maidana rematch.
UPDATE: Those were the odds on Tuesday. Now, just over 24 hours from fight time, they have closed up just a bit, with Mayweather now at -3000 and Berto at +1100.
Also available for betting: Will the fight go the distance? (-240 for yes, +165 for no), Will Mayweather fight in 2016? (-200 for no, +150 for yes), and will Mayweather KO Berto? (-225 for no, +150 for yes).
Also on the Mayweather vs. Berto PPV, George Groves is just barely favored over Badou Jack -150 to +120, and Roman Martinez is up over Orlando Salido -230 to +180.
