Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson

Official result: Demetrious Johnson defeats John Dodson by unanimous decision (49-46 x2, 50-45)

What was the high point of the fight?

There are few things as pleasing as watching Demetrious Johnson do his thing. Mighty Mouse is technically the perfect fighter, his submissions are sublime and his footwork is unrivalled. The high point of this fight was Mighty Mouse's mighty movement. From round 1, Johnson looked fast and fresh, his head movement lead the usually accurate Dodson to missing and in turn putting himself off balance which Johnson capitalised on at times.

Where do these two go from here?

Demetrious Johnson is the forgetting champion. Behind the hyperbole which surrounds most of the fighting world Johnson is the unsung hero. Johnson finishes championship fights, makes few mistakes and rarely drops round, yet he gets limited attention. The only remedy to this may be for Johnson to seek out a super fight in the bantamweight division, a division which he once had great success in.

While John Dodson won't have gold around his waist any time soon, his mood will be lifted by going home to spend time with his newly born child. Like Johnson, Dodson too may seek the 135lb division in the future, after all he does hold a finish over UFC champion, TJ Dillashaw. Dodson may find the route to a title shot easier at 135lbs by holding a victory over the reigning champion.

Watch now, later, or never?

Watch now. Mighty Mouse is an expert in the intricacies of human movement.
