A feature fight between Anthony ‘Rumble' Johnson and Jimi Manuwa took place prior to the co-main event of the evening and ended exactly how most expected it to.
Check out the play-by-play below:
R1: Manuwa starts off with a hard inside low kick. Johnson answers with one outside, then plugs Manuwa with a quick right/left combo. Manuwa scores another low kick but gets tagged by a right from Johnson, who plows into Manuwa for an easy double leg. Manuwa turtles and Johnson under-hooks the far-side arm in the half back-ride. Now it's a rear waist lock for Johnson as he moves to back control; Manuwa spins to face him but gets planted on his back again.
Johnson on top in half guard, looking to peel his leg out and mount. And he does but Manuwa quickly regains half guard. Shoulder strikes for Johnson on top. Johnson buries his head in Manuwa's armpit, possibly looking for an arm triangle. Manuwa changes his arm position and scrambles to his feet, but is greeted by more leather from Johnson. Manuwa flings out a high kick and forces a clinch, putting Johnson on the cage. They trade knees to the thighs while jockeying for position. Johnson circles off with 15 seconds left, landing a trio of knees to the thigh. 10-9 Johnson.
R2: Johnson lands a short right. Manuwa chambers a front-leg side kick and hurls a nasty left hook, both of which miss. Johnson switches to southpaw and leads with a left body kick, then plants a beefy right hand square on Manuwa's kisser. He goes down, limp, and the fight is stopped.
