Paige VanZant wants to follow in Ronda Rousey's footsteps

UFC strawweight contender Paige VanZant looks up to bantamweight champ, Ronda Rousey.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

At just 21-years-old, UFC strawweight fighter Paige VanZant is well on her way to becoming one of the UFC's fasting rising female stars.

The Team Alpha Male product has only two fights under the UFC banner but has already secured an exclusive sponsorship deal with Reebok, and is quickly becoming one of the most recognised faces in WMMA.

VanZant is one of a select few fighters who has been chosen to represent Reebok as one of their flagship stars. The #7 ranked strawweight joins the likes of Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Ronda Rousey as Reebok's leading fighters.

Rousey in particular is someone VanZant looks up to as a role model.

"Obviously I want to follow Ronda, she's done amazing things and it just shows me how far I can take this," VanZant said to the LATimes. "I would love to follow in her footsteps. I want to continue winning fights and create a name for myself and maybe I'll get the opportunities that she is getting."

VanZant is set for a clash with Alex Chambers on tonight's UFC 191 pay-per-view in Las Vegas, Nevada, while Rousey will defend her bantamweight title for the 7th time against boxing champion Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 15th.
