Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski understands what it feels like to earn immediate rematches for the title and why the UFC goes about booking such fight. Therefore, he showed little concern when asked about the upcoming rematch between champ Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez.
"The UFC is smart guys," Arlovski told MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani. "They decide that the fight makes sense then why not? I remember when I fought Tim Sylvia I had a rematch right away. This is what is supposed to be interesting for the UFC and MMA fans. I have no problem with that."
Scheduled to face fellow former champion Frank Mir in the UFC 191 co-main event on Saturday, Arlovski revealed that he has not been informed about a potential title shot in his future.
"I'm not thinking about that. First of all, I need to pass Frank Mir and then it is totally up to the UFC. Title fight, not title fight, it doesn't matter."
In the end, Arlovski is simply interested in staying active and compiling more wins on his impressive resume.
"I want to stay busy and fight as often as possible. I'm good."
