Looks like the UFC will indirectly help Nick Diaz challenge the Nevada Athletic Commission's five-year ban following a third failed drug test for marijuana metabolites.
Diaz passed two of the three drug tests administered to him ahead of the fights, both of which were administered by the Worldwide Anti Doping Agency (WADA) yet the NAC decided to follow their own test administered by an non-WADA accredited source. They also went above their mandate and handed Diaz a five-year suspension when their own guidelines state a three-year suspension (they originally attempted to hand down a lifetime ban).
Ultimately, Diaz's attorney was rendered speechless following the shocking decision, proclaimed the NAC to be a "kangaroo court," and promised an appeal for judicial review. Now it seems the UFC has also stepped in with their lawyers to help Diaz get a fair suspension.
From Diaz's official twitter account:
@ufc put me in touch with their lawyers at Campbell & Williams and they will also be helping me with the NSAC
