Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs), who is best known to MMA fans as the guy who called out Cain Velasquez, is set for a career payday for his October 24th showdown with reigning #1 heavyweight in the world Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) in front of upwards of 50,000 fans at a German soccer stadium. The young British talent could make in excess of $7 million US for his first world title shot, and he's believed to be one of the more intriguing matchups in Klitschko's reign. It's legitimately compelling matchmaking which could see the eccentric Fury shock the world and become the new face of what used to be boxing's marquee division.
But we're not here to discuss the matchup, because that is far less appealing than what this post is all about. How about that press conference in Brentford, England? Fury showed up dressed as Batman, and he jumped over the table to to wrestle The Joker to the ground, knocking the title belts off the stand in front of the table. After a brief skirmish on the ground, which showed how poor Fury is with maintaining top position, Tyson had this to say to a watching Klitschko:
"You, next! This is a fool, just like you are!" Fury said. "Look at him, that's how you'll be looking when you face me on the 24th of October. You look up off your back like that, you old idiot, you old fool!"
Fury didn't stop the act. Later on in the press conference, dressed as himself, he told Klitschko that it was "a very personal mission for me to rid boxing of a boring person like you."
HBO will televise the fight live, and Bloody Elbow will have live coverage of the bout starting at 5:45 PM ET. Otherwise, head over to Bad Left Hook for all of your boxing needs.
